Lymphedema Management Services
Lymphedema is an abnormal accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the superficial tissue which appears as swelling in the arms or legs. It typically appears after surgery, radiation, trauma, or infections that disrupt the pathways of the lymphatic system. Lymphedema is a chronic, progressive condition and if not properly addressed, you may begin to notice difficulties with your ability to independently perform day-to-day tasks.
Here at RehabWorks, we utilize Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), a comprehensive and individualized approach to treating upper and lower extremity lymphedema. Each patient receives a specialized evaluation and treatment plan which we develop to achieve a maximal reduction in swelling, improved functional independence, and overall quality of life. We also provide you with the tools and knowledge you will need to continue the management of your condition at home following discharge from our care.
